Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for MusoKit (musokit.com). It is written in plain English. The short version: we do not track you across sites, we do not sell data, and the only data that exists about you on this site is the settings your browser saves locally so the tools remember your preferences.

What data we collect

MusoKit collects a small amount of information needed to make the tools work and to keep the site online.

Local storage in your browser

Each tool saves your preferences (BPM, last drum pattern, theme choice, etc.) to your browser's localStorage. This data lives only on your device. We don't have access to it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.

Microphone audio (tuner only)

The chromatic tuner needs microphone access to detect pitch. The audio is processed entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server. The microphone is released the moment you close the tuner page.

Server logs and analytics

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs that include your IP address, browser type, the page you visited, and the time. These logs are used for security (to block abuse) and basic operations. We use a privacy-friendly analytics service (Cloudflare Web Analytics) that does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not record IP addresses. Anonymous, aggregate visit counts only.

Display advertising (when active)

If we serve display ads — currently we do not, but we plan to in future — those ad networks (such as Google AdSense) may set cookies and use your IP address to deliver more relevant ads. When advertising is active, this section will be expanded to comply with all applicable advertising disclosure rules. You can manage ad personalization at google.com/settings/ads.

What we do not do

• We do not require an account.
• We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personal identifying information except via the contact form (which only sends to our email).
• We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We do not use cross-site tracking pixels (Facebook Pixel, etc.).
• We do not record microphone audio.
• We do not store your drum patterns or tool preferences on our servers — only in your own browser.

Cookies

The site itself uses no cookies. localStorage (a different browser feature) is used to save your tool preferences locally. When advertising is enabled in future, the ad network may set its own cookies; you'll be notified and given the option to consent at that time.

Children

The site is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, regardless of age, beyond what is described above.

Your rights

Because we don't store data tied to you on our servers, there's typically nothing for us to delete on request. If you have specific privacy concerns or questions, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and prominently note the change on the homepage for at least 14 days.
