About MusoKit
MusoKit is a free collection of browser-based music tools for musicians, producers, and students. Every tool runs entirely in the browser — no account required, no app to download, no paywalls.
What MusoKit is
MusoKit (musokit.com) is a musician's utility website — a set of practical tools that musicians reach for during practice, rehearsal, songwriting, and production. The site launched in 2026 and is built to be fast, mobile-friendly, and accessible on any device, including on a music stand mid-rehearsal.
All audio processing is done locally in the browser using the Web Audio API. No audio data is sent to any server. The chromatic tuner uses the device's microphone to detect pitch in real time; all other tools generate audio directly in the browser without any external dependencies.
The tools
Drum Machine
A 16-step browser-based sequencer with 808, 909, and acoustic drum kits. Adjustable BPM, swing, and four saveable pattern slots. Shareable via URL. No installation required.
Metronome
An accurate click-track metronome with tap-tempo, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, and 6/8 time signatures, beat subdivision, and accent control. Works offline once loaded.
Chromatic Tuner
A microphone-based chromatic tuner accurate to ±1 cent. Works with any pitched instrument: guitar, bass, violin, ukulele, wind instruments. Displays the detected note, octave, and cents deviation.
Chord Finder
Displays chord fingerings for piano, guitar, and ukulele. Covers major, minor, dominant 7th, major 7th, minor 7th, diminished, augmented, sus2, and sus4 chords in all 12 keys. Audio playback for every voicing.
Scale Explorer
Visualises and plays any scale: major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor, all church modes (Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Locrian), pentatonic scales, blues scales, and more. Shows notes on a piano keyboard.
Circle of Fifths
An interactive circle of fifths diagram. Shows the relationship between all 12 major and minor keys, their key signatures, and which chords are diatonic to each key.
Tone Generator
Generates pure tones (sine, square, sawtooth, triangle waves) from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. Presets for common reference frequencies: 440 Hz (concert A), 432 Hz, 528 Hz, and others. Used for instrument tuning, audio testing, and sound design reference.
Transposition Calculator
Transposes chord names, note names, and song keys up or down by any interval. Supports all 12 keys and accounts for enharmonic equivalents.
BPM to Milliseconds
Converts BPM to delay times in milliseconds for common note values: whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, and triplets. Used by producers and sound engineers to set delay and reverb times in sync with the track tempo.
Speed Trainer
A metronome that increases tempo automatically by a set amount after a set number of bars. Used for gradual technique building — the standard method for developing speed on any instrument.
Ear Trainer
Tests interval and chord recognition by ear. Plays two notes or a chord and asks the player to identify what they heard. Tracks accuracy and streak. Progressive difficulty.
Rhythm Trainer
An ear training tool for rhythmic recognition. Plays rhythmic patterns and asks the user to identify note lengths and meter. Covers 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8 time signatures with three difficulty levels.
Chord Progression Generator
Generates common chord progressions in any key and style: pop, jazz, blues, rock, folk, and R&B. Plays the progression back with selectable strumming or arpeggio patterns using the Web Audio API.
Design philosophy
Every MusoKit tool is designed to be usable in a real musical context — not just at a desk. That means large tap targets for a phone propped on a music stand, no modal popups mid-session, offline capability after the first load, and no sign-in walls that interrupt a practice session.
The visual design uses a warm off-white and coral palette deliberately distinct from the cold blue-grey of most software interfaces. Music is a warm, human activity; the tools should feel like part of that.
Privacy
MusoKit does not collect personal data. Audio from the tuner is processed entirely on the device — it is never sent to any server. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or fingerprinting. No advertising trackers are present. See the privacy policy for full details.
Free forever
All tools on MusoKit are free with no paywalls, no feature tiers, and no sign-up requirement. The site is supported by non-personalised display advertising (Google AdSense) and voluntary donations via Buy Me a Coffee. There are no plans to introduce paid tiers or lock any tools behind an account wall.
